As-Sa'ūṭ (Gurah) therapy using Rotheca serrata in the Aswaja Ruqyah Jam'iyyah of North Sumatera

Abstract

Islam strongly recommends paying attention to health problems, both physical and psychological, because to perform worship perfectly requires good health. This article aimed to find out about the practice of as-Saūṭ (Gurah) in the hadith and explain living hadith and medical studies related to Rotheca Serrata Herbal Media in the Practice of as-Saūṭ (Gurah) Jam'iyyah Ruqyah Aswaja (JRA) in North Sumatera. This type of research was field research in the form of case study on the practice of gurah Jam'iyyah Ruqyah Aswaja (JRA) North Sumatera using observation, interviews and documentation methods. The results of this research indicated that the as-Sa'ūṭ (gurah) hadis perspective is an attempt to insert herbal media into the nose, either liquid or solid. Study of living hadis rotheca serrata in its application turns out that some JRA practitioners have their own uniqueness, this is because it turns out that the classic medium as herbal gurah known as the Rotheca serrata plant is not widely used by North Sumatera JRA practitioners, this is because this plant is difficult to find in some areas. In the North Sumatera region, in the end, many gurah herbal media were found using other herbal media that had the same content, such as ginger, lime, spring onions, betel leaves and honey. From various data, the author found several kinds of ingredients in the Rotheca serrata herbal media. In the composition of making Gurah concoction, it turns out that the Rotheca serrata herbal media is mixed with various other media. JRA North Sumatera practitioners sometimes tend not to fully use herbal media according to the composition available. meaning they only use herbal media that are easier to find in the area where the practitioners live. As conclusion, Rotheca serrata contains alkaloids and flavonoids which can inhibit the work of enzymes for bacterial synthesis thereby preventing disease and inflammation.
